Hi, I'm Steph.
I never planned to be a real estate photographer. When I left for college in 2005, I was a History major with hopes of one day becoming a museum curator. I changed my major to Communication after a semester so I could take classes with my new friends. It was the best uninformed decision I’ve ever made. After graduating and still not knowing what to do, I went back to school and earned a Master’s in Health Communication from George Mason University. But with no actual medical training, a job was difficult to land. Eventually I found a job out of my comfort zone working in sales and marketing with a new home builder. I had finally found something I loved but it wasn’t the job itself – it was being surrounded by gorgeous design, architecture and creative minds.
In 2017, my husband, Chris, gave me a Nikon d3400 camera for Christmas. I instantly began taking pictures of every room in my house and the model homes I worked in every day. After a few months of practice I decided to turn my hobby into a business and began shooting real estate part-time for a small following of loyal clients. I realized I am completely myself when I am behind my camera. Ultimately after a few years, a personal epiphany, and the courage to take a risk, I am thrilled to share the best of me with all of you.
On a personal note, my husband and I live in Suffolk, VA with our 2 cats and 2 dogs. The 5 of them are the most important living beings in my life. A few more of my favorite things are First Landing State Park, local cider, food in general, and the fun gear and technology I get to play with being a photographer.
One last thing, I named my company after my grandma’s house on Mango Drive. It was pale blue and covered in a canopy of trees. It smelled like home. I adored that house and everything it represented. I understand that home is more than the structure and it is my goal to represent that in my photography.
